Week 1 Review post 2 minimum of 150 words APA Format

Lizander,

While most would assume that the best leader for a team would be the one with the most knowledge in that specific field, that is not always the case. A good manager, like any leader, needs to be a social construct first and foremost, able to bring the best out of their subordinates, mitigate their various weaknesses, and create a cohesive force under their control, understand the needs and requirements for their team, then in turn, be able to bring the team to bear in a manner which is beneficial. It is important for a leader to know and understand the team they oversee, the subject they are tasked with, but the main focus should not be the task in and of itself, but the ability to gain multiple individuals to work together as a team to accomplish the objective. To call upon my own life, and family as an example, my uncle holds engineering degrees in multiple fields, and is quite possibly one of the smartest men in many of the rooms he has to visit, but the man is by no means capable of leading a team. Teamwork for him, means placing all of his coworkers work on his own desk, and doing it all on his own, as those around him are incapable of doing work to his standards. On the reverse of that mindset, my aunt, his younger sister was a highschool drop out, was a late graduate to her degrees, and intellectually, does not hold a candle to her brother, but her skills reside in people, motivating a diverse, and divisive group of individuals with no need to cooperate, to function in unison to accomplish their, and her, objectives. A true leader is one who can bring individuals together and form a team to achieve the goal, not needing to know and understand the entire process, procedure, or details, but to assemble a group of people who can.
