e-Activity: (This will be used in Assignment 1: SWOT Analysis, Assignment 2: Assessing Financial Performance and Its Impact on Merger Acquisition)

• Select two (2) health care organizations that represent a health care product, service, or company and that are publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or NASDAQ market. Make sure that your companies are competitive in nature.

The two health care organizations that I choose are Amedisys Inc. (AMED) and LHC Group (LHCG). These two companies are competitive in nature as they both are providers of home health and hospice care.  As the U.S. population continues to live longer, I feel that home health services will continue to increase in need. I also choose these two companies as they have locations in Virginia (where I live). Amedisys' mission statement is "We honor those we serve with compassionate home health, hospice, and personal care services that apply the highest quality clinical practices toward allowing our patients to maintain a sense of independence, quality of life and dignity" (About Amedisys, n.d.) I really appreciated their values as well. Their values are as follows:

LHC Group's mission statement is "We provide exceptional care and unparalleled service to patients and families who have placed their trust in us" (lhcgroup.com, n.d.).  I could not find a value's statement but their purpose is simply stated as a desire to help people (lhcgroup.com, n.d.)
