Shamanism is thought to be the oldest form of religious expression. Define who a shaman is, and two or three representative shamanic activities.

After you have done this, find one instance of Shamanism in current American culture. This might be any or all of the following:

· Psychological counseling

· Marketing a product

· A song

· A movie

· A healing remedy

· An article of clothing

Describe how the Shaman is regarded, viewed, and evaluated in this example from pop culture. 

In your opinion, is this appropriation of the Shamanic from pop culture in keeping with the true spirit of Shamanism? Why or why not?
