WAQP Week 1 Discussion 2

Writing as part of the coursework you have completed to date has been a demanding exercise and you have hopefully been practicing your use of objective language and professional tone while adhering to APA format. You have may have received very positive feedback about your writing so far or you may have received feedback that suggested there is room for improvement in your academic writing. Now that you are working on parts of the dissertation, your academic writing will be very much a focal point. Strong scholarly writing is essential at this phase for you to articulate the empirical argument you need to make to complete doctoral research. Your chair therefore, will be looking more closely at your academic writing than prior instructors likely have. 

To Prepare:

• Review the “Transitioning from Coursework to Doctoral Writing” video.
• Consider challenges to capstone writing that may arise for you.

Having viewed the video, describe the challenges in transitioning to dissertation writing that concern you most. Think of a time when you received negative feedback on your writing, or suggestions for revisions you objected to.

• How did you respond to constructive feedback and how might you respond if you receive such feedback now?
• What will you do to address the challenges you anticipate in transition to dissertation writing?
