When sociologists apply the sociological perspective and begin to ask questions, no topic is off limits. Every aspect of human behavior is a source of possible investigations. Sociologists question the world that humans have created and live in. They notice patterns of behavior as people move through the world.

Think of a broad topic that you are interested in and that would make a good sociological study. Take that topic through the first three steps of the scientific method.

1. Write down the first three steps of the scientific method. Provide a short explanation of each. 
2. Ask a question about the topic.  What is the question you wish to answer?  Include a breif explanation why this topic is important to study.
3. Do some research via GALILEO and identify three articles that support your topic.  Cite the three articles using APA providing a brief summary each.
4. Formulate a hypothesis.  Draft a hypothesis statement specific to your topic.

• Your paper should be two, double-spaced pages in length, in Arial or Times New Roman, 12 point type.
