Discussion Assignment Instructions

Directions: You will post one thread of at least 300 words. The discussion threads in this course require a high level of thought and investigation on a number of important topics and related questions. Your posts must demonstrate course-related knowledge from the assigned readings and presentations, and you are to support your assertions with at least two scholarly research articles in current APA format. Sources cited must have been published within the last five years.

Discussion Thread: Careers in Educational Technology

For this Discussion, spend some time reviewing the literature and readings for the week to help you answer the following questions:

· What is the definition of the field of educational technology?

· How has the definition of the field changed over time?

· What is a leading professional organization in the field? 

Then, briefly discuss the types of careers held and tasks performed by educational technologists.  Document the achievements of one influential educational technologist (past or present), defending your position of the person's impact on the field.
