Vulnerable Population

 

Select one of the following vulnerable populations (homeless individuals, elderly adults, refugees/immigrants, low-income families, individuals with mental illness, rural populations, veterans, incarcerated individuals, children).

Your presentation should include:

• Introduction to the population chosen with statistics about the population.
• Description and key characteristics of the selected vulnerable population
• Epidemiological data (incidence, prevalence, health risks/risk factors of at least 1 health issue)
• Health Disparities and Barriers to Care (Access issues, cultural barriers, economic factors). Discuss at least 2.
• Nursing Assessment Considerations (Risk factors, screening priorities: provide at least 2)
• Evidence-Based Interventions (Minimum of 2 nursing or community-based interventions) Be specific.
• Community Resources (Local, state, and national support services: Apply one resource for each category including a description of the resource.
• Role of the BSN Nurse (advocacy, education, policy, and care coordination: address at least 3)
• Conclusion (Summary of key points using bullet points)
• References

• The PowerPoint is to be clear and concise
• The PowerPoint will consist of no more than 12 slides (excluding title and reference slides; no abstract needed). Do not need speaker notes.
• Use bullet points (avoid overcrowding text)
• Incorporate visuals (charts, graphs, images)
• APA formatting for citations and references
• Incorporate a minimum of 3 current (published within the last five years) scholarly journal articles or primary legal sources (statutes, court opinions).
