Visual Media Hunt

 

For this discussion, you will go on a visual media hunt.

Place each visual element or link to it in your document, and answer the corresponding questions.

Go online and find the following:

1. Watch at least two minutes of "The Jazz Singer," the first movie with sound. Summarize the section of this film that you watched. This video is in the Ch. 5 PowerPoint, but it's also available online. After watching it, discuss how sound has changed the movie industry. 
2. Watch and compare two movie trailers from different time periods. Tell me what two trailers you watched, and explain how movie marketing and production has changed over time.
3. Watch a few minutes of traditional TV and then a few minutes of a show on a streaming service. Explain the difference between these platforms. Think about accessibility of each type of show. Where you able to watch your show on your phone, TV, computer, etc.? How does watching something on your phone compare to watching something on TV?
4. Overall, explain how visual media has changed over time.
5. Overall, how has visual media impacted society?
