visual analysis paper

The first writing assignment will be a Visual Analysis Essay.  It is due by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017.

Please see pages 308 and 309 in the attached Discovering Arguments text for the general assignment guidelines.

The paper length should be 2-3 COMPLETE pages (not including the Works Cited).    Papers less than 2 COMPLETE pages (not including the Works Cited) will earn an automatic grade of ZERO.  Anything written beyond 3 pages will not be graded.

The paper will need to be in MLA format. (See attached PDF document and template)

This is NOT a research paper.  The only item that you will need to find will be the visual media you decide to use.

You will need to include a Works Cited page containing the source for the chosen visual media.

You may use one of the following visual media types:

Please include the URL of your visual media so that I can see it.  If it is a photo, print ad, or print cartoon, you can attach it on a separate page at the end of your paper AFTER the Works Cited page.  It will not count toward the total page limit. 

1)     A photograph      

2)     An advertisement 

3)     A cartoon 

4)     A YouTube video  (no more than 2 minutes)

5)     A portion from one of the documentaries that we have watched in class

6)    A media chosen must be free of nudity (full or partial), profanity, violence, generally offensive, controversial, or questionable content.   (I know...what's left?)  You will be able to find something.
