For this essay, you will be using your knowledge of the rhetorical situation to respond, describe and analyze a controversial non-moving media (a picture or advertisement). The paper will first need to analyze and describe the visual, non-moving advertisement. Then it will need to create an argument regarding the controversial subject in which the advertisement is taking place, with a side being chosen and argued for or against. You can respond to anything that presents itself to you as an argument. You must write at least 1500 words on this argument using research from the database to justify your claims. If you are unable to find an argument that interest you and have exhausted all of the options below, see me after class. Just a reminder: if your paper is less than the required word count, the highest grade you can receive is a 60.

Requirements:

• 1500 word count
• 3 Critical Sources with a Works Cited Page at the      end of the Essay found from academic databases.
• You must create an argument stemming from a piece      of non-moving media.

An A paper will include all of the following things:

· A clear, argument-driven thesis that shows understanding of the concepts we discussed in class.

· Professional and appropriate language.

· Description of the image

· Evidence that the paper has been carefully revised (i.e.: little or no grammatical errors and stylistic issues).

· An organized, logical structure.

· Transitioning topic sentences.

· Paragraphs that are united by a single, big idea.

· Evidence that the student understands the argument being presented on the source and secondary material (i.e.: you must use quotes from research found in databases).

· Works Cited Page Correctly formatted using MLA style guide
