You are a urban sociologist conducting research on global cities today. You are to present the problems that global cities face today and in the future. First, choose one global city from the following list.  

•Los Angeles, U.S. 

•Mexico City, Mexico 

•Sao Paulo, Brazil 

•Bombay, India 

•Shanghai, China   

In a 1-2 page paper, address the problems that this global city faces today. Some problems you should include are as follows: 

•access to land for farming 

•overcrowding 

•air, water, and land pollution 

•lack of affordable housing 

•access to water and food   

Also include the following in your essay:  

•The term rapid population growth 

•The definition of urbanization 

•At least 5 solutions for this city's growing problems
