I'm new to Bakersfield so I looked up four of the five questions to get a scope of the city. The results of the questions stunned me be ; my perspective about Bakersfield was totally different compared to the findings. I did notice the spike of a population from April to July by 30 thousand-ish which is a large spike. Viewing the results I think it clearly shows the gender inequality in the workforce. Men are making 1.28 more than women. Which I believe its unfair, but Im sure it's due to what I read from the book that many employers dont take women as serious as men due to having to take off time for childbearing and family time. moreover, there is more females students than there is male students, yet males are still earning more. It was alarming to know Hispanics have the highest percentage of poverty than any other, but also believe this is due to their immigration status; which may hinder them to get out of poverty. As a resident of California, I am surprised that a known progressive state that cares about almost everything still has to tackle like inequality.

Lake Los Angeles, CA

According to the American Community Survey, there is a little over 11,000 people in Lake LA with almost a 50% split between males and females. Around 60% of the population is white with the other 40% of minority races. Around 74% of the population are high school graduates. The mean income for households in this area is around $39,000 a year. With around 45% living under this mean, which just shows me the high level of inequality in this area.
