Note! Use AI ONLY as Explained in Syllabus

50 Points

As you continue to customize your learning path to learn and apply more information to your current life situation, this activity and discussion will prove helpful for navigating those frustrating times when you are depending on others to achieve a goal to your satisfaction.

Watch all three of the following videos and refer to them in this discussion forum assignment.  Include communication terms from Chapters 11, 12, 13, and 14., and cite those terms with textbook chapter and section (or page) numbers and timestamps from the videos.

Directions:  For this discussion forum, you will have multiple steps to follow and complete in order to receive full credit.  Please read through ALL the directions BEFORE beginning any of the steps so that you will understand what you need to do.  Write clearly and proofread for correct spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

Step One:  Click on the link provided here, and it will take you to a survey about how you handle conflict.   University of Colorado at Boulder Quiz: Find Out Your Conflict Style   Be sure to complete the survey before participating in this forum to learn a little about your preferred conflict management "type".  What you will find, are your tendencies or preferences for handling conflicts in your relationships as also described in your textbook on pages 112 - 118.

Step Two (10 pts): For this discussion, and after completing the online questionnaire,  write the type of your conflict style in the subject line of the discussion forum so that your classmates can quickly see.  This will be the type shown to you with the highest score on the report that appears after you submit the completed survey. If there is a "tie" for your types, provide both of them in the subject line.

Step Three (65 pts.)  After reading the chapters in Module Three, in your OWN words, write a meaningful paragraph (approximately 300 words) explaining your conflict style and what resonates as particularly true for you when thinking about past conflicts in your life.  Include a brief discussion about your level of satisfaction with this preferred style -- remembering that this is NOT the only style you use.  It might be the style that is the most comfortable for you to use most of the time...or not.  You tell us what you think.  As always, include quotes, terms, theories, and/or practices taught in one or more of the videos listed for this discussion AND from the Chapter readings.  Cite your sources in parentheses at the end of your sentences thusly: (video author at X min) or (textbook page XX).

Step Four (25 pts):  Read what your classmates have written.  I'm sure that you will be able to find at least one classmate who has the same conflict style that you have.  (If not, select any student you wish.)  Respond to the classmate in an encouraging as well as meaningful manner (approximately 100 words).  Include a quote, term, theory, or practice taught in one or more of the videos AND/OR the textbook readings.  Cite your sources in parentheses at the end of your sentences thusly: (video by author at X min) or (textbook page XX).   Note!  A "meaningful response" is NOT an agreement with what the classmate stated.  A meaningful response is connecting your classmate's posting to key terms, theories, or practices noted in the textbook with an explanation of WHY or HOW the behaviors are meaningful.
