2)Instruction: The War on Drugs has been more effective than he probably ever imagined it would be. However, there are other players that have enabled this success of mass incarceration: the media, Nixon's presidential successors, the public. So where do we go know? Dan Baum explores the idea of legalizing drugs even though drug laws have existed since the mid-1800's and started right here in SF with the anti-opium laws. Do we reverse that last two centuries of drug laws? Are their other solutions that might be effective? In this forum, I would like you to explore those questions. I don't expect you to have or know a solution to these large systemic problems, but I want you to begin discussing these issues with your classmates.
