Assignment 2: Discussion—The Promise of America

It is important to understand that Americans have a personal stake in the ideas, concepts, and theories presented in this course. With this in mind, begin by exploring your own American story, putting these stories in conversation with the larger narratives of nation that you have encountered so far in this module.

Using the module readings, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, respond to the following:

• What does the promise of America mean to you? Give an example in your answer.
• Explain how your family’s story or your personal experiences support or refute any one of the conceptions of America presented in this module’s readings.

Write your initial response in a minimum of 200 words. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
