The higher education contribution to police and probation training: essential, desirable or an indulgence?

 After you've reviewed this week's readings, consider whether higher education contributes to the qualification training of police officers and probation officers. To that end, Is a college education, and/or an advanced degree essential, desirable, or indulgent ingredient in the education of people entering these careers? Why, or why not?
