The Federal Bureaucracy and National Security

National security responsibilities fall across many entities in the federal government. Which department, agency or bureau has the most influence and why? Include a recent news article from the last eight weeks illustrating it in action.  

Post by 11:55 pm Eastern Time on Friday, and provide substantive replies to your classmates by 11:55 pm Eastern Time on Sunday. Forum responses should be 300-500 words. Replies should be 150+ words.
