The City of El Paso in Texas has been active in encouraging sustainability within residential areas, in buildings and areas in surrounding. It has been especially active in encouraging building owners to adopt the program to do with energy efficiency, especially in the case of city buildings which are required to meet the LEED Silver standards. This is a good way of ensuring that sustainability and the green challenge is an initiative that is taken seriously. Energy efficiency is upheld leading to energy conservation (Circo, Little & A.B.A, 2009)
