Your role is to develop a paper based on the Financial Planning Practice Management skills discussed to date in the semester.
The presentation (in MS Word format) must be complete and understandable as a standalone document. You may include visuals if you feel they support your key points, you refer to them in the answer you are providing, and they are properly referenced.
Content, including coherent flow of paper and the ability to communicate the content. Ensure you clearly illustrate the Practice Management skills involved in each question and support your answers with references where required.
There are 2 parts to each question!
Part 1: 8 points per question – Your answer to each scenario. When you answer the question, including any visuals, it should make sense in a ‘real life’ situation and be written as if you are speaking to/answering your boss or client.
Part 2: 12 points per question – List 3 skills discussed in the course and how/why you would leverage them in addressing each question (4 points x 3 Skills). Please note, you can use the same skill a maximum of 2 times in the paper.
10 points. Grammar and spelling are critical. It’s important you check this thoroughly.
10 points. Sources and References. Using varied and respected sources. Include correct links to the articles. You must properly identify the specific content within the body of your paper being referenced.
Source Material:
· Support your presentation materials by incorporating charts, graphs, and visuals, where appropriate. Ensure your research findings and information are drawn from reputable industry sources. Note: Wikipedia or Investopedia are NOT deemed reputable sources and I will take marks off if you use them.
· When citing your sources, indicate the specific content drawn from your references and include the relevant source information and hyperlink at the end of the paper in a references section.
Length:
2500 words. That means about 600 words per question or about 1.5 pages double spaced and typed. Your paper should be about 6 pages plus visuals. Suggestion: papers less than 2500 words tend to lack the depth and information needed.
What I look for is content, insight and the ability to show me that you understand the skills and the topic and can communicate it in a logical manner.
Presentation Topic:
Imagine that you are working at Seneca Bank as a Financial Planner. You are working hard to establish your Financial Planning practice and you realize there are many aspects involved in successfully managing your practice. Building strong relationships, interacting with and educating clients and delivering memorable and value-added experiences. Doing so helps build trust and loyalty with clients and prospective clients and it is important to your overall success.
When you first started in the role, your boss asked you to think about the following and how they would impact your practice.
1: Your boss has indicated that the Client Experience is very important and that the company has a Client Satisfaction Survey they use to determine how satisfied clients are with their experience. She/he indicated that the results of the survey will determine 40% of any bonus compensation you receive. Since it is so important, they want you to explain how you will approach the Client Experience and what you feel will be most important in ensuring your Client Satisfaction remains high.
1: Relationships are a key to the Financial Planning business and the boss wants to know how you will establish and maintain strong relationships with your clients.
Recently you have had to deal with a couple of client situations and your boss has asked you how you handled them.
1: A new client asks; “How will you communicate with us, to keep us updated on the markets, conduct our financial plan review, and so on?” Describe 3 specific ways of contacting your client you will use to engage and communicate on a regular basis.
1: A client is worried about the current economic and investment climate and asks; “I’ve read various articles about what to expect in the future; there will be high inflation, higher interest rates, the cost of housing will remain high, and taxes will rise significantly due to all the government debt we’ve incurred. What does this mean for my financial future? It sounds scary.” Describe 3 strategies you will recommend to help reassure the client and position them to successfully navigate the turbulent times.
IMPORTANT HINTS AND ADVICE:
Remember to address both parts of the answer in each scenario, being sure to deal with both the situation itself and the skills we’ve discussed so far this semester..
Reference the lecture decks to refresh your memory on various strategies and skills to employ for these scenarios.
If your answer is doing nothing more than diving deep on technical aspects the question, you are likely neglecting the deeper meaning behind the question.
