There are several ways in which the team can increase its productivity & drive towards excellence:-
1. Communication:- The more the communication, more the team will be connected & strengthened. Communication should happen in a respectful & ethical manner always. There should be standard set of rules as per which team mates are supposed to interact with internal & external professionals. The more a team communicates, they more clearer expectations will be set in relation to how, what, why & when things are to be done. A clear channel of communication will lead to meet the milestones.
2.Goals Setting & tracking (KRA's):- During communication with a manager, a team mate must put the areas wherein he wants to excel/ areas of interest & work upon, and manger should advise him about the related project & agendas which are expected in a project. Eventually after discussion a goal needs to be set with different milestones which will act beneficiary in tracking the goal, if are we correct path or is there any deviation? All the discussion should be managed by minutes of meeting, so that tracking can be done accrodingly on agreed points.
3. Clarity of role:- While discussing the goal, manager must set the expectation which is need out this role. Team member is supposed to act postitively & as needed on those expectations. If there would be no clarity then team member could be working in wrong direction, which could lead to unneccessary efforts. If role is clear in between team member & manager then, efforts will be in direction to increase the productivity.
4. Feedback:- Constant & polite feedback should be provided to team members, so that if something is going wrong, it can be immediately tracked & corrected. Even manager should be open to listen the challenges from a team member's perspective. Questions like, are you able to manage the workload?, are we on right progress? Would we be able to meet the objective?, should be asked * answered. This will be helpful in putting the project back on track if anything wrong was happening.
5>.Measuring:- Every team member's productivity has to be measured on time to time basis. Are they even aware what are their Key Responsible areas? Are they working on the project, they are held accountable for? Checking if they are under performing// meeting the objectives or exceeding the expectations? This can be helpful in analysing what should be the next movement.
6.Trainings:- After analyzing if any team member is not performing as expected, check what are the lope holes & then have communication that these are the points which need considerable attentions & hence trainings are being scheduled in order to get the things on track.
7.Team huddles:- Short & crisp team meetings can be conducted wherein an opne conversation can happen between entire team. Small games will also help team to gather & understand each other more efficiently.
As a manager, following things can help in rewarding teamwork:-
1.Reward the entire team by writing encouraging & motivating emails; sharing the examples which lead to success.
2. Trust & respect:- always make sure that you show the member that they are worthy & the member is always an asset to the team. Trust& respect are the key to any relationship & these always act as a valuable reward.
3.Flexibility:- Manager should not be strict to the timings of members; although it is responsibility of the team members to effectively complete the assigned work in aligned deadlines. Work from home should be trusted & be encouraged.
4. Opportunities:- Projects keep flowing in an organization, if any team member wants to grab any opportunity then manager should be the one to ask for nominations & accordingly assign the project.
5.Team outings:- Small catch-ups; dinners or a day out to sport activities/team building activities can join the team into 1 as whole & can act as a reward.
