Who am I in a Small Group? (60 points)

This assignment asks you to reflect on course concepts, reflections, and the results of the assessments you’ve taken this semester in order to answer the question “Who am I in a small group?” In order to complete this paper, you must incorporate at least 5 course concepts. This paper will be a discussion of the value you bring to a small group. Some possible things you can include are:

· Roles you’ve performed

· StrengthsFinder results

· Conflict management style(s)

· Listening style(s)

· Power 

· Cultural Dimensions 

· Leadership style(s)

Grading: This paper is the culmination of the course content and you are expected to clearly demonstrate your knowledge and command of the course material and how it relates to you as a member of a small group. This paper is meant to be reflective, but should not be a rant or stream of consciousness. Prepare a thorough and detailed analysis that includes examples. The paper will be evaluated in terms of your ability to apply the concepts of communication we’ve discussed to your small group experience, specifically speaking to the contributions you make in a small group. Make explicit connections between the course content and your observations. Be specific, both in terms of behavior and concepts. Cite all course related material using APA citations.

Your paper will be graded on the thoroughness of your analysis, relevant and accurate application of course material, and grammar/spelling as well as meeting APA citation guidelines if references are used. The paper should be about 4 typed pages, not including your cover sheet, and reference page. (Note that this will require you to write concisely and effectively – a skill much valued outside the academy.) The paper must be double-spaced, 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1” margins, and meet the course standards for good writing. It must be submitted in .doc, or .docx, format, NOT .pdf, etc.
