Module 2 Teamwork Meeting Notes Template

Use this template as a guide and to report your team’s progress.

Your teamwork assignment consists of two parts:

1. A Diversity Ice Breaker

2. Training planning

Both of the activities together are worth 65 points. All team members will receive the same grade for this assignment.

1. Diversity Ice Breaker: Play I am, but I am not

Here’s how to play:

· On a piece of paper (or on the computer) ask each team member to create two columns, with one titled “I Am” and the other titled “But I Am Not.”

· Ask team members to fill in the columns with true statements about themselves. For example, someone might write, “I am a male, but I am not emotionless.” Or, “I am a female, but I am not weak.”

· Take turns sharing your responses to start a great discussion on diversity.

· These answers can be quite personal, so it’s important to be sensitive and kind when people offer to share.

Discussion Questions (summarize the discussion questions)

· What happened during the activity? Were you surprised by anything?

· What insights can we draw from this exercise that can help us understand diversity and inclusion?

· What did you learn about your teammates from this activity?

· How can you apply what you learned to leading diverse teams?

2. Training Planning:

A. Review the Example Training and instructions and the Module 1 Training Planning overview and decide what your group would like to do for your training.

B. Design your Needs Assessment to be turned in at the end of Module 2. Follow the Needs Assessment Assignment instructions. Also, feel free to send a draft to your professor before submitting the assignment to make sure that you are asking the right types of questions that will help you to custom design your training. Your professor will contact the Office of Culture and Inclusion for feedback or with any specific questions that you might have.
