Summaries 1, 2, and 3

Chapter 1,2,and 3. Please choose 2 of the chapters and write a 1 page summary of each chapter.

WEEK 1: Chapters 1, 2, 3

These first three chapters looks at the overall topic from a more global perspective. These authors talk more generally, although they occasionally discuss specific treatments (e.g., medicine). They raise issues such as what is a fad, what is science, why science should be exalted and practiced, and why some people disdain science. There is also a discussion as to how we can critique treatments from a perspective of science, and how we can make sure we "behave scientifically." These chapters "set the stage" for the remainder of the book.
