Improved thesis statement , but needs to be cleaned up for the essay.  There's a lot of information in that statement, too much.  Only list the main points that will make up the central structure of your argument in the essay.  You seem to have two separate paths.  Pick one for your essay and make it the second part of the thesis statement.  Less is more.  The thesis statement must be a road map to your essay.
