Study design for public health issue (Epidemeology class)

     

Part II: Identify an appropriate study design (~2 ½   pages) 

 

Study Design Selection:

- Complete flow chart template on selected study.

* Identify a beginning point.

* Measure   & classify risk factors.

* Measure   & compare outcomes.

 

Flow Chart Summary – Include the following (15 points each): 

* Describe the general category (Descriptive   or Analytic).

* Describe why you selected this study   design.

* Describe why you chose your study population.

* State the risk factors and outcomes and how  you plan to measure them.

* Explain the temporal element to your study.

* Describe the strengths and weaknesses of  your study design selection.

-First, categorize the study (analytic or descriptive)

-Second, choose study design and explain why this particular study design was chosen. 

Study design could be:

· Cohort

· Case control

· Case series

· Clinical trial

-Third, identify population of interest.

- Fourth, State the risk factors and outcomes and how you plan to measure them.

- Fifth, Explain the temporal element to your study.

- Lastly, Describe the strengths and weaknesses of your study design selection.

- All the previous questions should be answered according to my study design part I (from the word doc which attached). 

- The title for my study is: Cigarettes smoking in Virginia.
