ESSAY 2 (1000-1500 words- excludes the title, abstract, and reference pages) Choose one of the following questions: Are we witnessing the rise of new Great Powers? Or are we witnessing the rise of new regional powers and the regionalization of world politics? Will this transform world politics? OR What might be specific about the foreign policy behavior of the Great Powers? How much freedom of action do Great Powers really have when it comes to implementing grand strategies? OR In a world of increasingly scarce natural resources and global environmental threats, what are we to make of the current revival in Great Power thinking? Can these issues be resolved with a focus on geo-economics? Points to Cover in Essay 2: • Use evidence to support your position, such as statistical evidence or dates and events. • Validate your position with authoritative references or primary source quotations (four sources). o At least three readings from the syllabus.
