One of the issues we had a chance to read about in this module is the challenge of maintaining fiscal accountability. The author’s seemed to point to the fact that there are certainly some situations where the future of many colleges is due to what they term as an unsustainable financial reality. Please describe in this discussion question the genesis of this financial challenge that faces so many schools today. Explain the financial challenge and articulate why it’s so difficult to manage and respond to.

In this learning module you had the opportunity to examine the emphasis that has come about in recent years on the promotion of student excellence. What does it mean to create an institution that is more directly accountable to this important learning outcome? What has come about to make this change a reality? Clearly understanding this dynamic provides direction for leaders of higher education institutions in formulating their plans moving forward.
