• Structure • Content • Delivery • Oral citation of at least 1 source • The “hands-on” use of at least 3 three-dimensional
visual aids during presentation (PowerPoint presentations, posters and papers can be included but do not count towards the minumum requirement for visual aids.). “Hands-on” use means that you use the visual aid to demonstrate a part of the process being discussed and not just point to it or pick it up only to put it back down.
• Visual Aids should be incorporated throughout the entire speech
• Typed full sentence outline must be submitted by due date.
• Staying within the given time limit ASSIGNMENT: Deliver a 4 to 6 minute informative speech in which you
inform your audience about how to do something. Remember that you are simply giving the facts about any given topic. You are not attempting to change or reinforce any ideas that your audience may already have. Remember that your topic needs to be sequential. You will turn in an outline. You are required to use 3 three-dimensional visual aids in this speech (no powerpoint, no posters, no sheets of paper held up).
PROCEDURE: Select a topic that provides you with enough information to
write a fully developed speech. Once you have chosen your topic. Write a speech in which you are telling your audience step by step how something is made or how something works. You must incorporate 3 visual aids (that are not PowerPoint) into your speech. The visual aids should be used throughout the speech. Visual aids must enhance the listeners understanding.
PURPOSE: To introduce you to the informative speech-writing format
as well as fine-tune your speaking, research and writing
skills. This also gives you the opportunity to experience working with visual aids.
