Imagine you are asked to speak at a PTA (Parent-Teacher Association) meeting at your child's school. In this fictional scenario, you would have 6-8 minutes to offer your thoughts on maintaining safety in school. Consider the audience and how you would address them if you were actually to prepare and deliver this speech. Your first speech is the self-introduction due in Unit 2.

· How do you know? What methods could you use to gather audience information?

· What techniques may you use to best connect with your diverse audience?

· What is your purpose? Provide a purpose statement for your speech.

· Is your speech primarily informative or persuasive?

· Overall, how did your awareness of your audience affect your answers to these questions?
