Students  will  be required to work on
formulating   a   question   they   would   like   to   answer.   It   should   address   either:
a) one of the contemporary work-related challenges faced by workers/managers or policy makers or b)
a theoretical or empirical problem relevant to one of the many transformations of the world of work
since industrialization.
The paper should be 10 to 12 pages long (no more), and conduct a contextualisation the of the
discussed problem, ask a research question, provide an hypothesis and evaluate it against theoretical
and/or empirical research works. You will have the opportunity to discuss your plan with instructors
during the office hours. By March 20, all students must have developed and submitted a plan of the
essay (electronically, in PDF, in MyCourse), which will represent 10% of the final grade. You should
use at least two academic references selected out of the readings provided in the course syllabus.
However, you will have to use additional academic sources you identify as useful for elaborating your

argument, since your bibliography shall have at least 6 peer-reviewed and/or scientific sources. This is
a core assignment, it represents 50% of your personal grade. Kindly note that you should start your
