writing assignments. The 

assignments offer you the opportunity to search popular news websites for articles 

that illustrate the major concepts discussed in class. 

Each concept will require you to find an article that illustrates the issue, write up a 

sociological analysis of the concept abstractly (from textbook or other readings), 

and then apply it to the article found. At the end of the paper (one-two pages), you 

should have complete citations to the materials referenced and the article. You are 

required to complete 9 of these papers and they are due at the end of the 

semester.
