1. Review chapter three "Science and Fuzzy Objects" and lecture notes on the key theoretical perspectives in sociology. Using your own words (i.e. It is okay to acknowledge and synthesize others' ideas but do not just copy and paste them), describe the assumptions or key premises of the structural-functional, social conflict and symbolic interaction perspectives. 2. Select a recent (within three months and provide link to story source) local, national or international news story. Describe the story briefly. Based on your understanding of the issues, which is the best sociological perspective among the three (just select one perspective) to be used to understand that story? How are you going to apply the assumptions of that theory to understand that news story? Why did you choose your perspective over the others? (10 points)
