Smart Grid

As noted in the PowerPoint titled ‘The Smart Grid’, the smart grid  represents the systematic modernization of a very old electric power  transmission system. This represents a distinct change from an entirely  producer controlled system, to a more responsive and customer-driven  model.

• Why is it important to have national smart grid standards and is an international body needed to govern standards?
• How is the smart grid community addressing interoperability and Cybersecurity as it pertains to the smart grid?
• What implications does broadband have on the grid?
• Why is it important for states and localities to build a smart grid infrastructure?
