Qualitative research methodology is the most suitable approach for investigating the
impact of juvenile delinquency on education. Qualitative research is a methodology that delves

data points or implementing treatments, as done in quantitative research. Qualitative research
collects data about individuals' experiences, attitudes, and behavior. It addresses the methods and
reasons rather than quantities or amounts (Tenny et al., 2022). It may be designed as an
independent study based only on qualitative data or as a component of mixed-methods research
that integrates both qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative research techniques enable
thorough and detailed probing and questioning of respondents depending on their replies. The
interviewer/researcher also seeks to comprehend their motivation and emotions.

Rationale for Phenomenological Design
The chosen research design for this study is phenomenological. Phenomenological
research is a qualitative technique that assumes the universal essence of anything is based on
how its audience perceives it. Phenomenological researchers document and examine the beliefs,
emotions, and perspectives of the audience they are investigating in connection to the subject
under investigation. Only the perspectives of the audience who have encountered the phenomena
are significant (Alhazmi & Kaufmann, 2022). The researcher's own preconceptions and ideas
regarding the phenomena should be immaterial. Phenomenological research approach is
particularly beneficial for investigating themes that need an in-depth exploration of the
audience's ideas, emotions, and experiences. It is a great instrument for obtaining audience
insights, raising awareness about the subject under investigation, and formulating new
hypotheses regarding audience experience in a particular, controlled setting.
The phenomenological approach can permits researchers to explore subjective meanings
not only in the perceptions of the delinquent juveniles but also in educational stakeholders such
as teachers, school counselors, and administrators. In-depth, semi-structured interviews sublet
underlying meanings, motives, and life experiences pertaining to juvenile delinquency and what
perspectives are conceived for it to impact or be impacted upon by schooling. Qualitative
methodology would be most appropriate since phenomenology presents a structure for exploring
the multifaceted experiences within the complicated social reality.

of juveniles involved in delinquent activities and educational stakeholders regarding the impact
of juvenile delinquency on education. The increasing number of juvenile delinquency demands a
general understanding of how academic progress and hinder future opportunities for young
individuals are affected (Gupta et al., 2022). The study seeks to provide overview of issues and
observations about juvenile delinquency entailing possible challenges it poses to educational
attainment and socio-economic outcomes. This research aims to inform policies and
interventions that seek to mitigate the adverse effects of delinquency on education through
exhaustive exploration and analysis of these experiences and perceptions. Therefore, findings
from this research can inform policy and intervention aimed at mitigating adverse effects in
relation to juvenile delinquency. This research work may unravel these difficult issues and
barriers experienced by delinquent children and the educational system through the lived
experiences and perceptions of delinquent juveniles, children, and stakeholder educators. The
findings can help create a supportive learning environment for at-risk adolescents, boosting academic
performance and socioeconomic status.

The best approach to establishing some of the reasons why juvenile delinquency may be
negatively affecting education is qualitative research methodology and more so a
phenomenological design. This study seeks to highlight the challenges and barriers being faced
by viewing lived experience and perception regarding access to opportunities for education and
engagement with education by at-risk youths. The goal is to identify these difficulties and
influence policy and intervention initiatives to provide a favorable learning environment for
delinquent adolescents to succeed academically and socioeconomically.
