Short paper: The Global Energy picture: non-renewables

Although use of renewables is on the rise both in the US and  globally, world energy usage is unquestionable dominated by  non-renewables. The Module 4 ‘non-renewable’ PowerPoint notes that  electrical generation from coal will nearly increase from 9.83 Trillion  Kilowatthours per year in 2020 to over 15.02 Trillion Kilowatthours per  year in 2035.


Instructions:

Write a 2-3 page paper addressing the following:

  1. What do these figures mean economically, politically, and environmentally here in the United States?
  2. How might global fossil fuel reserve projects impact the global balance of power as we currently understand it?
  3. What can the United States do to become less dependent on foreign sources of energy resources?
  4. Does the United States currently have a sustainable energy plan? If  not, what changes should be made to ensure a sustainable future?
