Galileo and Google Scholar have many articles about Zora Neale Hurston. Also, many books have been written about this author.

In Their Eyes Were Watching God, Zora Neale Hurston uses the image of the horizon to represent Janie's hopes of obtaining love. On her journey to the horizon, what are the hopes and dreams of the men she interacts with? To what extent do they intersect with those of Janie? Based on the examples provided in Their Eyes Were Watching God do Black men and Black women have similar or different expectations and experiences with regards to the horizon? What are some of the challenges that Janie faces when it comes to loving Logan, Joe, and Teacake—and also, loving herself?  Is her “journey” fulfilling?  Why or why not?  Provide examples from the novel.  What do literary scholars have to say?
