Theatre shares many features with movies, television, and other types of entertainment. However, one of the things that separates theatre from other types of performance is the fact that both the audience and the performers are live and in the same space together for the event. In this essay, please discuss how you think this "liveness" impacts both the performers and the audience. Feel free to draw from your own experiences (either as a performer or audience member). Have you been part of a live performance (theatre, dance, music)? How is that experience different from seeing the same story acted out via television or film (or music on a recording rather than live)? Be sure to support your ideas.
