During the Cold War, dependency theory became popular among Latin American

IR scholars, which they used it to explain how their countries continued to be

underdeveloped even though formal colonialism was long gone. By considering

the propositions of Marxist school in IR, please explain why Latin American

scholars adopted this particular theory. Can you think of any countries in

contemporary Latin America, which still use this perspective in their foreign

policy?
