Searching for the American Dream (not an essay)

Many of the immigrants who came to the United States during this time were looking for a fresh start. Immigrants came to the United States by the thousands looking forward to a new life and the American Dream. However, there was also an immigration domestically as well, as many African Americans moved north into the large cities that were springing up all along the east coast.

Describe the challenges in the urban areas at this time.

What efforts were made to help immigrants coming in to the United States?
