Welcome to Discussion Board 2. Here we will discuss the readings and film on Classical Sociological Theory.
All of the founding fathers of sociology attempted, in different ways, to explain the changes that industrialization brought about to Western society, changes that are depicted and critiqued in the first 20 minutes of Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times. Analyze the clip from Modern Times using one of the classical theories you have learned about (Marx's theory of class conflict, Durkheim's theory of organic solidarity, Weber's theory of rationalization). First, summarize your theory, showing how it explained the social changes caused by the Industrial Revolution, then explain how your theory is illustrated by Modern Times.
Your response should be 250-500 words
