She lives on her own, single, and is 7 weeks pregnant. She has been through much in her life. At one time adopted but then given back to foster care where she was abused. After gaining her emancipation, she works 30 hours a week as a waitress. Sarah is a smart young lady with a bright future in front of her. With her 4.0 GPA and in the top 10% of her class, she has earned a full-ride scholarship to an undergraduate pre-med program at a very prestigious university.Sarah is all alone. The father of her future child disappeared soon after she told him she was pregnant, and she has no family to lean on. As you can imagine, she is scared. She has no insurance and doesn’t want to be pregnant nor a mother at this stage in her young life. With her experience in the adoption system, she rejects that as an option.
