New York State approved Same Sex Marriage in 2011. Maryland's former governor - Martin O'Malley - worked to support a bill allowing marriage between homosexual men - or between lesbian women. Parents, educators, politicians, and clergy have been debating the pros and cons of this legislation. Voters in Maryland voted YES to approve the bill in November 2012.
