Risk Assessment and Core Capabilities

Overview: Review your local community emergency management plan or that of another community you are familiar with (city or county). It may be titled a mitigation or a hazard mitigation plan. Identify two hazards endangering the community. Name and discuss three community-related factors that your local emergency manager must consider in determining the risk factors of these hazards. Provide a link to your local community emergency management plan. 

Select two core capabilities from each of the five mission areas in the Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Guide (THIRA). Provide an example from your local plan demonstrating how the plan is addressing the selected core capabilities. Explain your reasoning.

Guidelines for Submission: Your paper must be submitted as a 2–3 page Microsoft Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one- inch margins, and at least three sources cited in APA format.
