We’ve been reading about how South Asian American communities have been shaped by external forces—immigration policies, economic inequity and racial discrimination. Share one example from early South Asian American history (before 1965) and one example from Shukla’s or Prashad’s essays that illustrates how South Asian American communities have been impacted by immigration laws, economic policies or racism. What similarities or differences do you see between the two examples you’ve chosen?
