Installed on a desktop computer is Bitdefender Internet Security 2018. This security suite features, are having three layers of protection with a focus on protection, performance, and privacy. The core features of the Privacy layer of protection is Bitdefender VPN. This feature protects user's online presence by encrypting all internet traffic. Bitdefender Safe pay secures transaction to prevent fraud. Parental Advisor allows parents or guardians to discreetly supervises children's online activity. The next feature that is Privacy Firewall which protects the workstation from hackers and protects personal information. The feature also included vulnerability scanner, IPS, and a scan to check Wi-Fi security. Utilizing firewall software like Bitdefender uses packet-filtering firewall rules that are within access control list to filter the traffic. It provides a safe connection between the computer and the internet. This can prevent and block unwanted traffic and prevent hackers from entering the system. The application firewall can prevent mistakes due to human error. Human error  come from lack of knowledge, carelessness, fatigue, or inadequate oversight or training (Johnson, 2015).Features such as vulnerability scans can make sure the system update dated and searches for security loopholes in the network to determine if the system can be compromised. Along with the vulnerability scan has an Intrusion detection system (IDS). IDS recognize a network attach and sends an alert to warn of activity (Johnson, 2015).Firewall application-based program can restrict unauthorized access to terminal and ports, restrict unauthorized access attempts to services and system files (Gibson, 2016). It also only permits authorized services. Proper firewall configuration can prevent things such as worms, and Trojan Horse. System update alerts remind the user the OS system needs to be updated. Thus provides excellent defense in preventing a user computer from becoming a part of a Botnet.  Operating System updates may contain significant security patches that fix security exploits of the operating system.
