RESPOND TO TOYA POST
My current role at my job is Dock Lead, I work in Manufacturing, a plant called Burris Logistics. We package and deliver meats, turkeys, breakfast foods, steaks, and now we also have food for dogs ????. Real meat products. I am in charge of 15 people on my team, I make sure the product is packaged correctly, labeled right, and put on the correct pallet for loading. It's a tough role, having to keep up with items that were damaged or open or catching air.
When I first started that role I was only there for a short period of time, before I became lead. I had a few people who thought they should have been promoted instead of me. I'm a leader because I handled it greatly without attitude or insult. After a while of working with me that soon came to love showing up to work with me. All jobs don't have to be boring or not liked. I made it fun and got the job done at the same time. I love being a leader, but at the same time I am a follower because I have someone over me to make sure I completed my job correctly.
Respond to at least two of your peers. If you gave an example of yourself as a follower, try to respond to someone who gave an example as a leader, and vice versa. Then, take the position of someone on the team in a leader or follower role and discuss the following:
- Identify your role as either a leader or a follower.
- Discuss the impact your role would have on the situation and the team.
