I have chosen to pick having superiors and subordinates in the same group. I don’t think that subordinates would feel like they could be honest with their opinions in the same group as their superiors. Also, in our text, it states that they should not be in the same groups for obvious reasonings (Cummings & Worley, 2015). 

There could be many different problems that could arise from superiors and subordinates being in the same group. One example would be the subordinates not expressing how they really feel or their true opinions. One may feel that if the superior doesn’t like their ideas or opinions, they could be punished for it. The company probably wouldn’t get as much accomplished as if they were in different groups. Subordinates may feel like they can share more when they are not in the same group, which could result in better ideas and help improve the company.

If I was hired by a company that insisted on it, I would tell them ok. I would also go through the different risks that it could have on the company putting them in the same group. They may not be as effective and they could lose out on some good ideas that could improve the company. I would also tell them to try both ways and see what way works best. There is no reason to argue with someone that has already made up their mind on a way of doing things, but to give them all the facts and let them know which way would be more beneficial and why could be really helpful.
