Abstract

This presentation is focused on the evaluation of mindfulness and trauma-informed mind-body interventions for recovery related to adult women (18 to 45 years) who were trafficked as domestic sex victims in the southeastern United States and were vulnerable to complex trauma. The findings of the assessment are based on the outcomes of the meta-analysis based on data from over 15 articles published from 2024 to 2026. Data from Safe Homes indicate that an individual has experienced childhood sexual abuse as well as being a victim of childhood sexual exploitation, having a mental disorder, and having a criminal background. Related variables are moral injury, somatic dysregulation, polysubstance abuse, and service systems that consider legal issues over mental health concerns. Integration of Biblical perspectives would focus on presence-oriented therapy, lamentation, spiritual wounds, and voluntary Christian contemplative accommodation. Future research is encouraged in areas such as controlled studies on trafficking intervention, longitudinal studies on evaluation, multidisciplinary treatment based on the victim’s experiences, and spiritual competency training.

Keywords: Sex trafficking survivors, complex trauma, mindfulness-based stress reduction, trauma-sensitive yoga, moral injury, faith-based aftercare, and biblical integration.
