Comment about this post:

I definitely feel that developing autonomy is a very important part of growing up. Realizing that you are an autonomous being with free will gives us large amount of control over who we are and who we want to become in the world. When teenagers begin to explore their autonomy, they may realize that they have control over the way they dress, what they eat, how hard they try in school etc. I believe that this sense of autonomy plays a big role in how teenagers develop in to the young adults they become. However, some teenagers may take autonomy too far. For example, some teenagers take their autonomy too far and start rebelling against their parents or even experimenting with drugs or alcohol.

What do you think? Is autonomy in teenagers harmful or helpful?
