Introduction

• Children are more vulnerable to flu and flu related hospitalizations than other populations
• According to the CDC, in the 2017-18 flu season 80% of pediatric flu deaths occurred in unvaccinated children
• CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a seasonal flu vaccine each year by the end of October for optimal protection

Did you know? 

• Although flu vaccines aren’t 100% effective... CDC recommends health care providers continue to administer vaccine 
  • Why? because influenza activity is ongoing and the vaccine can still prevent illness, hospitalization, and death associated with influenza viruses
